Choosen solutions

Ephorus

To test plagiarsm in the documents.

Ephorus compares documents in three different ways.

  • Ephorus Internet compares with documents on the Internet.
  • Ephorus Group compares with documents of parallel student groups.
  • Ephorus Database compares with documents handed in before, and to documents handed in at other educational institutes with an Ephorus account.

We have  choosen a combination of the three services, integrated within our existing Intranet or virtual learning environment. Students use a special hand-in page to instantly and simultaneously hand in their work to both Ephorus and their teacher, and the teacher receives an automatic alert when Ephorus finds a similarity to another document. The sensitivity of this alert can be set by the teacher.

Supported file formats are: MS Office (.doc, .docx, .rtf), Open Office (.odt, .sxw), Plain text (.txt), Adobe PDF (only processes PDF files containing plain text), .htm and .html

Ephorus accepts documents up to a maximum file size of 16MB. ZIP files can have a maximum size of 4MB.

Jplag

It is a system that finds similarities among multiple sets of source code files. This way it can detect software plagiarism. JPlag does not merely compare bytes of text, but is aware of programming language syntax and program structure and hence is robust against many kinds of attempts to disguise similarities between plagiarized files. JPlag currently supports Java, C#, C, C++, Scheme and natural language text.

JPlag does not compare to the internet! It is designed to find similarities among the student solutions, which is usually sufficient for computer programs.

Jplag is free just need to register to obtain an account.
